Waking Up Early for the CT Book Fair!

Cape Town Book Fair LogoOn Saturday 16 June I will be taking part in the panel discussion, “How do black writers write about white experience and vice versa?” The discussion will be led by André Brink and other writers on the panel include Walton Golightly, Johnny Masilela and Ken Barris. This is part of the Kwela Coffee Hour and takes place at 10h00 in the Via Afrika Lounge (F1).

On Sunday 17 June, I will be in conversation with Mark Espin from 09h45 – 10h30 at the Centre for the Book stand (Q3).

At 14h00, I will attend the launch of Ryland Fisher’s book Race at the Marimba restaurant, which is by invitation only. Then I will make my way back the Centre for the Book stand for the launch of my friend, Mark Espin’s first collection of poetry, called Falling from Sleep. The launch will take place at the Centre for the Book’s Small Publishers’ stand (Q3) on Sunday 17 June 2007 at 15h30. There will be a short introduction by Allan Kolski Horwitz of Botsotso Publishing followed by a brief talk by Shaun Viljoen of the English Department, University of Stellenbosch.

Then I have to rush home to prepare for the M-Net / Afrika Awards at Pigalle Restaurant. I am in contention for the Herman Charles Bosman Award along with Kgebetli Moele and Ken Barris.

I will also be at the NB Publishers stand for the duration of the fair in my capacity as marketing and promotions co-ordinator.

So who says I’m not a morning person?
